System Shutdown
- Power off the Chiller using the soft power switch located on the back of the unit to ensure it's completely turned off.
Water Valve Shut-Off
- Locate the top and bottom bulkhead water valves on the Ice Barrel connected to the Chiller.
- Carefully shut off both valves to stop water flow into and out of the Chiller, preventing any water movement that could lead to freezing within the system.
Hose Disconnection
- Identify all quick-connect hoses linking the Chiller to the Ice Barrel or any external water sources.
- Gently disconnect these hoses to isolate the Chiller from the water system. Make sure to drain any remaining water from the hoses to prevent any residual water from freezing and causing damage.
Water Drainage
- Removing the Water Filter:
- Position a towel or container below the filter housing to catch any spills.
- Use the provided water filter wrench to unscrew the bowl that houses the water filter.
- Draining the Remaining Water:
- To remove all the remaining water from the Chiller, use a small wet/dry vacuum.
- Place the vacuum tube over the lower quick connect fitting. This will effectively remove all the water from the system.
Chiller Relocation
- Unplug the Chiller from its power source to completely disconnect it from any electrical supply.
- Carefully move the Chiller to a warmer, temperature-controlled environment where it's unlikely to be exposed to freezing conditions. Ensure the Chiller is stored upright and in a stable position.
Ambient Temperature Monitoring
- Keep an eye on the ambient temperature conditions. The Chiller should only be reconnected and restarted when you're confident that the temperature will remain above freezing for the foreseeable future.
System Check Before Re-use
- Before restarting the Chiller after a period of winterization, perform a thorough inspection to check for any signs of damage or wear. Reconnect all hoses securely, open the water valves, and follow the standard start-up procedure as outlined in the Chiller's user manual.
