If the water level in your Ice Barrel is above the top bulkhead, air can sometimes become trapped in the system, causing water flow issues. Follow these steps to remove any potential trapped air:
Prepare the System
-
- Start with the Chiller powered off or in Maintenance Mode to prevent the system from operating while you work on it.
Shut Off and Disconnect the Top Hose
-
- Close the top quick connect valve attached to the top bulkhead of the Ice Barrel to stop water flow.
- Disconnect the top hose from the top bulkhead by pulling the quick connect fitting loose.
Restart the Chiller
-
- Turn the Chiller back on or take it out of Maintenance Mode. This will start the water pump.
- As the pump starts, allow the water to flow freely from the top hose. If possible, direct the water onto the ground, or use a bucket to catch the water.
Purge the Air
-
- Let the water flow from the top hose for about 15 seconds to ensure that any trapped air is purged from the system.
Power Off and Reconnect
-
- Power off the Chiller or return it to Maintenance Mode.
- Reconnect the top hose to the top bulkhead of the Ice Barrel.
- Open the quick connect valve to restore water flow.
Restart and Check for Air Bubbles
-
- Turn the Chiller back on or take it out of Maintenance Mode.
- Carefully inspect the water filter chamber to ensure there are no visible air bubbles. If bubbles are present, repeat the steps until all air is removed.
