Preparation and Water Shutoff

• Open the Ice Barrel App or Chiller UI.
• Select Settings from the Menu, then choose Maintenance Mode to stop cooling and circulation.
• Locate and close the bulkhead valves at the top and bottom of the Ice Barrel by turning the knobs so they are perpendicular to the bulkheads, stopping water flow.

Cleaning the Pre-Filter

• Locate the Pre-Filter:
  • The pre-filter is attached to the bottom bulkhead inside the Ice Barrel.
• Remove the Pre-Filter:
  • Unscrew the pre-filter by hand, turning counter-clockwise. No tools are necessary.
• Clean the Pre-Filter:
  • Rinse the pre-filter under running water to remove debris.
  • Use a soft-bristled brush if necessary for thorough cleaning.
• Dry and Reinstall:
  • Shake off excess water and ensure the pre-filter is completely clean before screwing it back into its housing.

Removing and Cleaning or Replacing the Water Filter

Follow these steps to clean or replace the water filter:

• Locate the Water Filter:
  • The water filter bowl is at the back of the Chiller.
• Remove the Water Filter:
  • Place a towel or container underneath to catch any drips.
  • Use the provided filter wrench to unscrew the filter bowl gently. Avoid using excessive force to prevent damage.
  • Remove the water filter from the bowl.
• Clean the Water Filter (if reusing):
  • Rinse the filter thoroughly with clean water.
  • Use a soft brush for any stubborn sediment.
  • Ensure the filter is completely dry before reinstallation.
• Replace the Filter (if necessary):
  • Discard the old filter and insert a new filter into the bowl, ensuring it is properly seated.

Reassembling and Restoring Operations

• Inspect and Reinstall the Water Filter:
  • Before reattaching the filter bowl, carefully inspect the O-ring on the bowl.
  • Ensure the O-ring is perfectly seated in its proper location. A misaligned O-ring can cause leaks around the filter bowl.
  • Reinsert the clean or replacement water filter into the bowl, ensuring it is properly seated.
  • Screw the bowl back into place using the filter wrench, being cautious not to over-tighten.
• Reinsert the Pre-Filter:
  • Reinstall the cleaned pre-filter by screwing it back into its housing.
• Reopen Water Flow:
  • Open the bulkhead valves by turning the knobs so they are aligned with the bulkheads to reinitiate water flow.
• Exit Maintenance Mode:
  • Exit Maintenance Mode via the App or Chiller UI to resume normal Chiller operations.

Final Steps

1. Check for Leaks:
   • Inspect the filter and pre-filter areas for any signs of leaks.
   • If leaks are detected, double-check the O-ring alignment and filter bowl seal.
2. Resolve Notification:
   • Once all components are securely in place and leak-free, select Resolve on the App or Chiller UI to clear the maintenance alert.

If the Notification Persists

• If the notification reappears shortly after cleaning and reinstalling the water filter, this likely indicates the filter needs replacement.
• Filter Life Expectancy:
  • Depending on usage and water treatment, filters typically last 2-6 weeks.
  • Frequent use or inconsistent water treatment may shorten the filter’s lifespan.
• Replacing the Filter:
  • Follow the steps outlined above in the "Removing and Cleaning or Replacing the Water Filter" section to replace your filter.
