Extended Tilt Lockdown Alert

 

Understanding the Alert:

    • Maintaining the Chiller in its upright position is crucial for the proper functioning of the compressor. Prolonged tilting can cause oil to move away from the compressor's oil reservoir, potentially leading to insufficient lubrication and damage.

 

    • Proper positioning of the Chiller is essential for several reasons:

      • Preventing Oil Misplacement:

        • The compressor relies on oil for lubrication. When the Chiller is tilted, the oil can move away from its reservoir, leading to insufficient lubrication of the compressor parts. This can cause increased wear and tear, overheating, and potential damage to the compressor.

      • Ensuring Optimal Operation:

        • A level Chiller ensures that all internal components function as designed. Tilting can disrupt the balance and alignment of these components, leading to inefficiencies and possible malfunctions.

      • Protecting the Cooling System:

        • The cooling system is designed to operate with the Chiller in an upright position. Tilting can cause refrigerant to flow unevenly, reducing cooling efficiency and potentially causing system stress.

      • Avoiding Long-term Damage:

        • Repeated or prolonged tilting can lead to cumulative damage over time. Ensuring the Chiller is always properly positioned helps maintain its longevity and reliability.

 

Corrective Action:

    • Repositioning the Chiller:

      • Carefully adjust the Chiller back to its proper upright position as soon as possible to start the process of oil resettlement in the compressor. Use the following steps:

        • Gently tilt the Chiller back to an upright position.
        • Ensure it is placed on a stable, level surface to prevent future tilting.
        • Use a physical level tool to check that the Chiller is perfectly level.

 

Waiting Period:

    • Mandatory Wait: 

      • The notification and support content stress the mandatory four-hour waiting period in Protect Mode, allowing sufficient time for the oil to drain back into the compressor reservoir.

    • Patience Advised:

      • Refrain from attempting to use or restart the Chiller during this waiting period to ensure the system's integrity and functionality.

 

Post-Waiting Period Actions:

    • System Check:

      • After the four-hour waiting period, verify the Chiller is still correctly positioned upright and monitor for any system alerts or indications of operational readiness.

    • Automatic Notification:

      • Once the four-hour waiting period has elapsed, the Chiller system will automatically send a notification to the Ice Barrel App and Chiller UI, informing you that the unit is now ready for use again. This notification confirms that the oil has likely resettled into the compressor's reservoir, and the Chiller is safe to operate.

    • Manual Restart (If Needed):

      • If the Chiller does not automatically resume normal operations after the waiting period and the readiness notification, manually restart the Chiller by pressing the power button for 3 seconds.
